DOCTORS
The
following are independent doctors of medicine, chiropractic and psychology
recommended by TrueNorth Health.
Alan
Goldhamer, D.C.
Dr. Goldhamer is a graduate of Western
States Chiropractic
College in Portland, Oregon.
After completing his chiropractic education, Dr. Goldhamer
traveled to Australia
where he became licensed as an osteopathic physician. He completed a
residency program at the Arcadia
Health Center,
an in-patient facility specializing in the therapeutic use of water
fasting. Dr. Goldhamer founded the TrueNorth Health Education
Center in 1984 and is
the Director of the Center's residential health education program. Dr. Goldhamer has supervised the fasts of thousands of
participants. Under his direction, the Center has become recognized as a
training facility for doctors wishing to gain certification in the
supervision of the therapeutic use of fasting. He is on the faculty of Bastyr
University where he
teaches the course on clinical fasting and was the principal investigator
in two studies. The first, Medically Supervised Water-Only Fasting
in the Treatment of Hypertension, appeared in the June, 2001 issue of Journal
of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics. The second study,
Medically Supervised Water-only Fasting in the Treatment of Borderline
Hypertension, appeared in the October 2002 issue of the Journal of
Alternative and Complementary Medicine. He is currently directing a
prospective study with long-term follow-up evaluating the clinical and cost
of medical care outcomes in the treatment of diabetes and high blood
pressure with fasting and a health promoting diet.
Dr. Goldhamer is the author of The Health Promoting
Cookbook which provides detailed nutritional information on how and why
to adopt a health promoting diet; he is co-author of The Pleasure Trap.
Douglas
J. Lisle, Ph.D.
Dr.
Lisle is a graduate of the University
of California at San Diego (Summa Cum Laude). He received
the President's Fellowship and was a Dupont Scholar at the University of Virginia where he completed his
Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology. He was then appointed Lecturer in Psychology
at Stanford University
and was on the staff at the National
Center for Post Traumatic Stress
Disorder at the Veterans Affairs Hospital
in Palo Alto, California. Dr. Lisle worked as a
forensic psychologist for the criminal justice system in Dallas, Texas
and as a consultant for the National Institute of Health Clinical Trial on
Cognitive Therapy for Recurrent Depression at the University of Texas
Southwestern Medical Center. Dr. Lisle lectures nationally to health
professionals on topics including evolutionary psychology, cognitive
therapy, lifestyle modification, relaxation and stress management, and
weight loss.
Dr.
Lisle is the Director of Research for TrueNorth Health Center and has
published numerous articles in the scientific literature. He is the
co-author of the The Pleasure Trap.
Dr. Lisle is in private practice conducting psychotherapy at the TrueNorth
Health Center.
Peter Sultana, M.D.
Dr. Sultana is a
board-certified family physician. He graduated from Case Western Reserve
University School of Medicine in 1996. He holds a dual degree in Art
History and Physics from Fordham University , where he
graduated Summa cum Laude in 1987.
Prior to his clinical work, Dr. Sultana participated in the multi-disciplinary
“Gait Lab” research team at the
Cleveland Veterans
Affairs Medical
Center,
developing a system of artificial walking for paralyzed patients. In 1999,
he completed specialty training in Family Medicine at the
University of
Missouri,
and became a diplomate of the American Board of
Family Practice.
Currently, Dr. Sultana is on
staff at the Santa Rosa
Urgent Care
Center
and
Santa
Rosa Memorial
Hospital . He has an interest in natural approaches
to fertility and is certified as a Natural Family Planning Medical
Consultant by the American
Academy
of
Fertility Care Specialists. He maintains
a family practice at the TrueNorth Health Center. His research interest focuses on
measuring the extent of the body’s self-repairing potential in a
variety of disease states. He brings
his “mainstream medical” perspective to the research efforts of
the TrueNorth
Health Center.
Erwin
Linzner, D.C.
Dr.
Linzner completed his undergraduate training at the California
State University,
Los Angeles.
He graduated Magna Cum Laude, class valedictorian, from Western States
Chiropractic College. Dr. Linzner worked as an
accountant and computer programmer prior to becoming a doctor. In 1994, he
became affiliated with the TrueNorth
Health Education
Center. Dr. Linzner
understands the importance of addressing the entire individual, physical as
well as emotional, in guiding his patients in their process of healing. He
incorporates soft tissue manipulation in the treatment of myofascial and connective tissue disorders and spends
the time to correct joint problems in the extremities as well as the spine.
Alec
Isabeau, D.C.
Dr. Isabeau
studied at the University of California at Berkeley, prior to graduating Magna Cum
Laude from Palmer-West College of Chiropractic. He then completed an
intensive in-patient residency program at the TrueNorth Health
Education Center.
He has been a staff doctor and in private practice since 1986.
An
enthusiastic, accomplished runner, cyclist and rock climber, Dr. Isabeau's outpatient practice emphasizes sports
medicine and injury rehabilitation. His personal experience has given
him a keen insight into the evaluation and treatment of sports injuries and
he enjoys helping his patients develop life-long, healthful fitness programs.
